Dear Ragaventhiran
am a lawyer by profession but a crazy and great (no words to describe) fan of Nadigar thilagam since I wa adapted to tamil cinema. It is the fact that I show no interest any other tamil films except sivaji's. Once I found your site, I was so delighted because i was eagerly waiting for such a site for a longer time. Even today, I am crying in to my heart whenever I am thinking about sivaji. Still I am unable to believe he is dead but he is living in my heart. hough I am at he age of just 30, there were no others except sivaji to much impress me even today. I am even today shedding for his demise. I really would like to have a good touvh with you and share all the facts about sivaji with you.and further, I am now involved in a research about the acting maestro sivaji now. I hope you will also help me in this regard.
I am waiting for your reply
Thank you
Sabarullah
My response
Dear Sri Sabarullah,
I am very much moved by your mail. And that too, at the age of just 30, when every body would have been the fan of either Rajini or Kamal or Vijay or Ajith, your fondness to NT speaks of the real spirit in you. Your thoughts would be identical to all Sivaji Fans' thoughts the world over. I am more happy that you took pain and time to send me your feedback. My thanks to you. This website is my humble attempt to bring out the glories of Nadigar Thilagam. I would be more happy to have a good touch with you. Please be writing. You can also log in to the following blog for Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan where you can interact with so many fans of NT all over the world.

Dear Mr. Raghavendran,
Greetings!
There is absolutely no excuse for this extraordinary delay in my response to your email. My sincere regrets for this tardiness.

First of all, thank you for your kind words about our Tamil theater group in Washington DC area. We are very proud and humbled at the same time that we could name our organization after the legend, the great Nadigar Thilakam. Our latest production of Sri Kalki's "Alai Osai" is a huge success. You may have seen pictures of this in our web site. Unfortunately, we are discontinuing the web site for now. We intend to revive it later.

I just visited your web site. Hearty congratulations on constructing and maintaining this web site. This is a great service to all Tamil movie fans, especially the fans of Nadigar Thilagam. It is a wonderful service to all the fans of Nadigar Thilakam. It is getting better by the day. There is a lot of good information for all, especially for the younger generation. I compare the efforts of cinema lovers and
artists in the US to the efforts in Tamil Nadu to preserve and maintain the name and fame of our Nadigar Thilakam. Tamil Naud's efforts pale in comparison. We have always been deficient in recognizing, preserving and propagating the monumental achievements of our artists, including Nadigar Thilakam. Wouldn't it be wondrful to create a Tamil Cinema Museum and house all the rare information and photos and select videos/dvds of Nadigar Thilakam as the main attraction? I am sure there is money available, but it would take a group of people devoted to the cause.

Anyway, my best wishes to you. Keep up the great work. Please let me know if I could send anything that you might want to add to your web site, such as a short piece on our theater group, and a few pictures of Nadigar Thilagam. One quick suggestion, the Homepage of the web site looks a little crowded. Perhaps you might want to rearrange the links just on side - this might provide some spacing. Thanks for considering this thought.

Sincerely,
Sridhar

Response :
Dear Sri Sridhar,
I am really delighted to receive your encouraging mail. In fact it is my duty as a fan of NT to encourage those of you who are continuing to propagate his contribution to Tamil cinema and people, even beyond 20000 miles or so, at such a distant place. Pls accept my sincere appreciations.
Pls send whatever information you want and could provide so that this website is loaded with many rare nostalic and reminiscent moments from the fans. Thank you also for your suggestions. The cover page is updated frequently, say almost once in a week. So pls visit the website
frequently. I have also included a section on world cinema and shortly Indian classics, is also likely to be brought out. I would like this website to be an online library for NT fans so that they could compare various disciplines in the field of acting and know how tall he stands.
I am much more happy because I received your mail today (IST), Kamaraj's birth day..
With warm regards,
Sincerely,

Subject: World Cinema
Dear Mr.Raghavendran,
Read the write-up about Bicycle Thief. Nice start.
There was an old article by Randor Guy - I tried searching for it in the Hindu archives but didn't get it. It compares the scene in Annaiyin aaNai where Sivaji's banian is ripped by Savitri and he pauses to hit back with brutality, to a famous scene in Public Enemy (1931) where the actor James Cagney hits his girlfiend. Randor Guy wrote how Sivaji - apparently he avidly followed Cagney's career - was paying a tribute to that scene and had excelled it when doing so.
There was an 80s interview where Kamal and Sivaji are chatting where he mentions some of his favourite Hollywood actors. I didn't catch many of the names or films. I am sure one of the names is the Silent Era comedian Charles Bowers. It would be great if we can find the rest and refer their films.
Most of the films being referred to were not great classics of World Cinema. There were some old Hollywood films where the craft of acting was among the best in its universality - while other places in Europe etc. the went for documentary style 'naturalism' or where steeped too much into the local culture (like Japanese).

Prabhu

I once again express my sincere thanks to you for all your encouragement and valued suggestions and seeking your continued support. Your analysis (focussed on the song in the film Gnana Oli) is posted in the link for Film Analysis. Thank you for the same. I have proposed to introduce a separate section for song analysis in the future which would focus mainly on songs. Since your analysis focuses on the song Devane Ennai Paarungal, it would shortly be shifted to that link. I am also happy to inform you that Mr. Murali Srinivas has made a detailed analysis of this song which can be found in the Padalgal Palavidham Thread of www.forumhub.com. You can also post your opinion there. Please also keep writing analyses of the films of Nadigar Thilagam that you want to make which can be included in the Film Analysis pages.

Subject Suggestions to Nadigar Thilagam website
Dear Mr. Raghavendran, How are you and your family ? I am the same S.Balaji who writes about songs of MSV
in MSVtims.com. I have seen your website on our dear Nadigar THilagam & wish to
contribute a lot in the form of movie reviews and about songs where he had acted .
Is there a facility to post those ?
Needless to mention, the site is wonderful with some good database . I have some
more suggestions : 1. Video links to his movies
2. Video / Audio songs
3. Important scenes where he excelled
4. Movie reviews
5. Song reviews
6. Photos right from his childhood days
7. He has given some Malarum ninaivugal in Dhoordharshan long before. Probably you
may get it from Podigai as they have a good stock of all old records
8. His interviews in magazines and speeches in programmes
9. Memorable events and programmes celebrating his movie successes . May be photos
will cover as TV was absent those days
10. His writings

I wish this site becomes one stop shop for all Nadigar Thilagam fans .

Wishing you all the best

S.Balaji
Response
Dear Balaji,
I am extremely happy to receive your kind mail and valued suggestions mentioned therein. At present there is a link for clippings provided in the main page which will lead to about 100 or more songs from the Youtube. And also the reviews of movies have also been added in the link for Film Analysis. Of course I am working on providing audio links too and would come up as soon as possible. And in the page for film acting, you can see the analysis of various disciplines of his acting which will be supported by video clippings in the form of links. And there is shortly another page that will come up with the images of press cuttings/ news paper cuttings which would almost fulfil your wish, I hope. I have also an idea to contemplate with the distributors/ dealers/ manufacturers of VCD/DVD/ Audio CD so that the viewers may shop online from them.
I express my sincere thanks to you for all your encouragement and valued suggestions.

Subject: Hi
Dear Mr, Raghavendran, I had the chance to visit the site today for a while. Here are a few things that I thought of:
In the first page there is a line that reads: *?????????????? ????? ????????????.*
I think it should read ???????? ??????????.
?????? refers to the internet
???????? refers to websiteIs there a way in which the data you have compiled can be organized to a searchable database, with drop down menus, radio buttons for options etc. While the director list has a drop-down option I belive the whole search can be integrated,i.e. if I want to search for a movie made somewhere between 60-65 , directed by so-and-so but I am not sure who the music director is, the search should be throw out a bunch of possibilities. One of my favourites is the stats-search in www.cricinfo.com.It will be great if something of that sort can be done. It will be very useful for people of my generation. Often times I want to search who was it who worked as the cinematographer in the movie whose name actually escapes me but I remember Sivaji's name in the movie was Rajan. Then this kind of search will help me reach S.Maruthi Rao and Andha Naal. Then I also find out when it was released and how well it did etc.Speaking of which, I can do most of it now with the Ctrl+F function to search within the cinematographer page. But this is a suggestion to make things more elegant. And once again, to type and search in Tamil, unicode would be an asset. As always giving suggestions is very easy and implementing it may have its own challenges. So please feel free to disregard anything that demands disproportionate effort. *Awards*As the Tamil version correctly mentions Sivaji was appointed honorary Mayor of Niagara City. This city is in New York State, US. The English version erronously mentions that he was mayor of New York City.If I remember right, his performance as Peria Thevar was given a special jury prize for Best Acting (National Award).I have not delved into the site in a detailed manner. Will keep you posted.
Once again, please accept my congratulations for this excellent repository that you have put togetherRegards,
Prabhu Ram
My response: Thank you Mr. Prabhu Ram. The corrections pointed out will be carried out immediately. Regarding Devar Magan award, I do not think he accepted the award and hence I will have to check it out if it can be included with appropriate authorities. As far as database is concerned it is a very good suggestion, which I already have in mind, but would try to do that in due course of time. In fact he was given the key as the Mayor of Niagara city in New York State and I shall correct it in the English version. Thank you.

Dear sir,
recently I saw the website of Sivaji Ganesan viz 'Nadigar Tilakam.com" It is good. You can make it more attractive by adding these points.
1. Add One good still(scene) from every picture of Sivaji from Parashakti to Pooparikka varugiroom/
2. Give the names of his heroines in the order ie the hereine acted in highest films with Sivaji. ( I think KR Vijaya has acted in highest number of films)
3. Collect the opinions expressed by many great people like Periyaar, Annaa, Kalaignaar, Kamal hasan, rajanikant and his heroines and co stars about sivaji ganesan and put in a separate block. ( In fact sarojadevi pleaded long back that Dr Sivaji deserved Bharata ratna) There are many beautiful pictures of Sivaji in his Autobiography, which you may also put in a bolck. His childhood pictures if any may also be added.
It may also be made known as to which of the movie CDs are available and where as lot of people are interested to see those old Sivaji Movies including his plays.
Thanks. Dr Allwin Crasta. Mangalore

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your kind compliments. You have made very good suggestions which I have kept in mind and would implement them as far as possible.

Dear Sir,

The web site on Sivaji Ganesan is really good and you deserve a wordof appriciation. I am Joseph, resident of Bangalore and a great fan of Sivaji Ganesan. I have retired as Joint Director of Public Instruction of Government of Karnataka. It would be great If you could incest a film picture of Sivaji Ganesan with all his films. preferably in a bigger size.  I did not find cuttings from many of his films.Even in Karnataka , a large number of people want to see his old movies. But they are never screened in the TVs. They keep on repeting the same movies again and again. I muself has not seen more then seventy of his films. and they are not screened in any TV channel It would be great if TV channel like K.TV screed his old movies such as Panam, Rangoon radha, Modal theedi, Ambigapathi, etc, which are not seen by many people Even though I understand Tamil, I cannot read or write Tamil. So the screening of such tamil films should be announced in Press well in advance so that Many people like me outside tamil Naducould see and enjoy Sivaji Ganesan Movies.I consider myself the greatest Fan of Sivaji Ganesan and cancel all my engagements whenever ther is a screening of any Sivaji Ganesan Movie.......That one song sequence in PashaMalar is sufficient to declare Sivaji as a great artist of all times. ( ie Malandu malaraga)

I have gone through the website of our great Nadigar Thilagam, which was launched by you with your great efforts. I submit my sincere thanks for you on behalf of Shivaji Fans, throughout the world. The informations you poured in the site are somewhat tremendous and we can feel your pain and effort to collect all those details.
When I was going through the "List of Heroines", I found some names are missing, and you also mentioned that if any omission pointed out, they will be added. Some of them are.....
1. Latha - Sivakamiyin Selvan2. Vijayalalitha - Sorkam (ponmagal vandhaal)3. Vijaya Nirmala - Gnana Oli4. Raghini - (Lalitha/padmini/Raghini)5. Sridevi - as pair in Viswaroopam & Sandhippu and as child artist in many.
We thank you again for your great work, and as one fan suggested and you also assured, we are eagerly expecting the 'Gallery for Newspaper Advertisements for 100th Day and Silver Jubilee' of Nadigar Thilagam movies.
thasleeman.
MY RESPONSE:
Dear Thasleeman,
Thank you for your encouraging mail. I shall check it out and make correction where applicable. Vijayalalitha was not the heroine of SORKKAM and she just appeared in a dream song. Similarly Raghini has not acted as heroine in a movie with NT or she has not appeared as heroine in a movie where NT appeared in a guest role.
Thank you.

Dear Mr Raghavender ...

I have visited your website 'nadigarthilagam.com' for several number of times (correctly speaking, not less than three times in a week) and enjoying each and every millimetre of that website.

On going through this, Mr. Murali Srinivas sir's post, I had a strike that, you can add a gallery of 'Newspaper cuttings' about the 100th Day / Silver Jubilee advertisements of the movies of Nadigar Thilagam, which were come in Dhinathanthi, Dinakaran etc. (I have seen them in Rajini/Kamal websites, they have a gallery for newspaper cuttings). You are being an ardant fan of NT for long years, I hope you will have them and I also hope that, Shivaji Mandram Head Office at Chennai may have them.

If you open such gallery, it will be more glorious to the website of NT.
My response Thank you Mr. Karthik.Your remarks are very encouraging. Thank you for the same. You have rightly and in time suggested for the gallery, which I have already in mind and hope to include it at the earliest.

As an ardent fan of Nadigar Thilagam, though I have been visiting frequently this website from Day 1, the recently launched Tamil version is simply outstanding. The way, in which the years have been arranged, themanner in which the films list for any particular year gets reflected, the details that has been provided for each film has been excellent.Information on directors, co-artists, stage plays is praise worthy. Of course it goes without saying that the BO Success has also been nicely documented. In this regard, I would request you to provide more information on this (success statistics of various centres). More info on NT would definitely add lustre to this venture.Thank you so much for taking so much pain in bringing out this website. This will definitely help NT fans spread across the globe to travel down memory lane and relieve themselves of nostalgic memories. For the younger generation, this would showcase the potential and calibre of NT and would help them understand the proud history created by NT. All the very best to you, Warm Regards.

Hi Mr.Raghavendran,

I happen to visit your website on Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan. It was long overdue for this great and versatile actor.I remember meeting him on two occasions in my home country-Sri Lanka, several years ago, when he came over for the shooting of "Pilot Premnath"film, which was a joint-production between Sri Lanka and India. The Co-Director of the Film was another friend of mine -Joe Devanand.

The rare talent in Sivaji was his versatility and this gave him the skill to perform  any role he undertook. His performances were further enhanced by his superb rendering of lengthy dialogues(specially those written by Mu Ka) and the perfect pronounciation of the Tamil text.Even Mu Ka admitted "En uraikalukku uyir koduththavar Sivaji".

As a monument of his memory ,it is but fitting for the Tamilnaadu Government and Film Actors Guild,to establish a School of Acting in his name.

Kind attn: Mr.V.Raghavendran.

Sir,
I have noted that you have developed a webite on our dear Nadigarthilagam. Although this is quite late, your efforts are laudable. I am a fan of Nadigarthilagam for the past 40 years (I am aged 53) and will continue to be his fan. According to me he is the ONLY ARTISTE in the filmworld. He has no equal. I would like to be in touch with you and share my views and feelings on the Legend from time to time.If you do not mind, can I have your contact number? Thank you once again for having brought out the website. Please keep going in full swing - we are with you!!

Best regards.

Dear Sir It’s a long awaited and well deserving website for thespian of Tamil cinema, our dearest Hon. Chevalier Sivaji Ganrshan avarhal. I am a die hard fan of him and would like to share my thoughts with other viewers and fans of him. I was just there in Chennai on a holiday in March 2007 and took lots of pictures of his house, statue etc.. There is no one………………no one    ……………        absolutely no one to match him. Newcomers may bear the name of Sivaji, on their film title which they not qualified to, just my humble opinion. Keep up the good work, I will help. Hello,

Hats off to you for developing Nadigar Thilagam website.  In today's fast & mechanical world, where almost everybody has literally forgotton the great actor, your sincere attempt to glorify him is very much appreciated.  It is undoubtedly very much informative, but on the other hand, it could have been more interesting also.  Being an ardent fan of the thespian, this is my humble opinion. Well, to make it more interesting, pls develop this into a multi page website.  Also for all the films in the list, more informations like the theatre in which the film was released, any interesting incidents that happened during the making of the fim etc. can be added.  Most importantly pls include both still & video clippings of as many films as possible.  I know that thhis is a difficult job and requires a lot of research work.  But still, our Nadigar Thilagam really deserves this and much more.   If this happens, not only me, but millions of the great actor's fans all over the world will be happy.

Vazhga Nadigar Thilagam

Regards

Mohan
